Send your Email with Secure Encryption

Atlanta Mission uses Outlook.com for all internal and external email communication. At times, there may be sensitive information you need to send via email and want to ensure it's sent securely and can't be forwarded.

This article describes how to send an email with secure encryption. To learn how to create, reply to, or forward email messages, click here.

1. After composing your message, click Options.

2. Click the Lock icon.

3. Select the type of encryption you'd like to send the email with.

Confidential \ All Employees:

Everything offered in Do Not Forward + Prevents external recipients from being able to view the email

Do Not Forward:

  • Prevents the recipients from forwarding the email to anyone els
  • Prevents printing
  • Protects the contents using encryption.

Encrypt:

When you need to protect the privacy of an email message, encrypt it. Encrypting an email message in Outlook means it's converted from readable plain text into scrambled cipher text. Only the recipient who has the private key that matches the public key used to encrypt the message can decipher the message for reading

Highly Confidential \ All Employees:

Everything offered in Do Not Forward and Confidential \ All Employees + Prevents recipients from replying

4. Click Send.

You can find the email you've sent in Sent. It will display a message above your email stating "This message is encrypted."
